A little mentorship can make all the difference.

WMPRSA Mentor Match Program

Overview

WMPRSA will match mentors with mentees and provide resources to set pairs up for success. The program is based on academic semesters with open enrollment as follows:

  • Second Friday of September = deadline to sign up for the fall/winter semester (September-October-November-December)

  • Third Friday of January = deadline to sign up for the spring semester (January-February-March-April)

  • First Friday of May = deadline to sign up for the summer semester (May-June-July-August)

PR pros: Whether you take on the role of mentor or mentee is up to you! Mentorship is valuable at all stages of your career.

  • As a mentor, you’ll help guide a mentee in their journey of professional growth. Share your advice, be a resource and help your mentee grow in confidence as they enter new territory.

  • As a mentee, you’ll be able to build your professional network, receive career guidance and gain new insights into the PR industry. Your mentor will be a resource on your professional journey and is there to help support your growth.

APRs: Did you know you can get credit for serving as a mentor? By participating in our program, you’ll earn one continuing education unit under the professionalism category to help you reach your renewal goals.

How to Participate
All that’s required is active PRSSA or WMPRSA membership, a four-month commitment and at least once monthly virtual meetings. If desired, mentor/mentee pairs may choose to extend the relationship beyond the program.

Complete the intake form today and we’ll partner you based on your particular area of interest, experience and industry.

Mentor Match Program Resources
As you embark on your mentorship journey, you’re welcome to access our offered Mentor Match resources. An attached Monthly Conversation Guide offers a list of question suggestions, conversation starters and activity ideas for each month you meet with your match.

Whether you decide to follow the guide to a T, take inspiration from it or create your own adventure, the important thing is to come prepared to make the most of each meeting. The attached Meeting Agenda Template includes a couple of samples for first and third meetings to give you an idea of how conversations may go. Mentees are responsible for sharing what they’d like to discuss ahead of each meeting.

Additional information for mentors, including frequently asked questions and answers, is also attached in our Mentor Guide.
