Vision.

We seek to create space for all voices to be heard, all backgrounds to be acknowledged, and each member of our diverse community to come together in mutual understanding and respect.

We challenge each of our members to not only take time to participate in diversity-centered programming, but also pledge to keep diversity, equity, inclusivity and accessibility top of mind year-round. PR practitioners have the opportunity to lead the way in stimulating diversity in West Michigan’s workforce. 

Goals.

  • Continue to support and increase diverse membership and representation across WMPRSA, reinforced by an inclusive and accessible membership experience 

  • Provide communications programming that encompasses a wide variety of ideas, perspectives and cultural backgrounds

  • Through our events and resources, encourage, educate and engage with a diverse group of communications professionals while affecting change and fostering growth in the public relations industry

  • Through our events and resources, support local diverse businesses whether procuring event space, seeking services or similar business activities

  • Actively seek out and connect with diverse organizations that can be community partners and provide insight

 

Statement.

For WMPRSA, diversity, equity, inclusion and accessibility are vital to the success of our chapter, our profession, and the communities in which we live and work. Our Chapter pledges to actively work to make this organization as diverse, equitable, inclusive, and accessible as possible. WMPRSA honors everyone’s unique backgrounds and vows not to discriminate.

Grant.

The WMPRSA Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Fund Grant has been established to recognize the importance of advancing diversity, equity and inclusion in the communications community within the West Michigan PRSA region. The fund is intended to support the next generation of diverse communications professionals following the lead of the PRSA Foundation whose mission is to support rising talent and raise diversity.
